Patara Beach

Turkey

Patara Beach is a 12-mile long beach that is also categorized as a national park. Despite the sand and warm climate, it is famous for being the place of origin of the 4th century St. Nicolas. It is undoubtedly the number one Turkish beach, and is the ultimate secluded getaway due to is closeness to the Patara archaeological ruins (which are fun to explore). Urban civilization, hotels, and commercialization are restricted from developing near these ruins, so one thing you will not find here is the hustle and bustle of city life. Spend as low as $25 (usd) or even less for a double-bedded room, and stay in a low-end hotel or inn, in the Patara village. Bird watching is a popular activity here, and there is a surf zone of the beach, where the water will have the perfect level of waves to do a little body surfing, but stay safe. Patara Beach is family friendly, and also has food and beverage services on the entrances of the beach. If uncrowded swimming, archaeological ruin exploration, bird watching, and personal seclusion sounds appealing, there's no doubt that Patara Beach is the place for you.
